Magtech General Construction & Trading Pte Ltd completed the replacement of an insulated FRP/GRP make-up water tank at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore.

The tank measures 4(3+4)m x 6m x 2.5m (H), an odd-shaped configuration designed to fit the available space within the plant room. Insulated sectional panels were specified because the tank serves make-up water for the cooling system, where limiting heat transfer into the stored water supports stable operation of the plant it feeds.
Resorts World Sentosa is a live integrated resort, and site controls are among the strictest we work under. Access, security clearance, permit-to-work and delivery windows all had to be arranged in advance, and every stage of the works was coordinated so that the resort’s daily operations were unaffected.
The main challenge came mid-project. After works had already commenced, the client revised the required tank size. Rather than restarting the design, our team reassessed the revised dimensions on site and determined exactly how many additional panels were needed and of which type. Because sectional panel tanks are modular, the panels already on site were re-planned into the new configuration instead of being written off. Our factory then expedited production and delivery of the additional panels, so the revised tank could be completed without holding up the wider project programme.
We surveyed the plant room and confirmed the working envelope before mobilising. Security clearance, permits and delivery slots were arranged in advance to meet Resorts World Sentosa’s site requirements.
When the client revised the tank size after works had begun, our team carried out a fresh panel take-off on site and confirmed the exact quantity and type of additional panels required, avoiding a redesign and the delay that would have come with it.
The additional panels were put into expedited production and delivered directly to site, keeping the revised works close to the original programme.
Panels already delivered were re-planned into the revised configuration. No panels were written off as a result of the change.
The tank was assembled, insulated, tested and cleaned before being reinstated for operation.
Specification changes part-way through a project are uncommon, but when they do happen, our experienced team is able to reassess the tank configuration on site, work out exactly what additional material is required, and get our factory to expedite it.
Sectional panel tanks are modular, so a change in dimensions can often be absorbed by recalculating the panel schedule rather than replacing the tank. That only works if the panel take-off is accurate and the factory can respond quickly, and it is the difference between a mid-project change costing weeks and one costing days.
