Based on our experience, a well-maintained FRP/GRP water tank typically has a lifespan of around 15 to 20 years before issues such as leakage or material degradation begin to surface. In comparison, steel water tanks (such as HDG or stainless steel) may offer a slightly longer lifespan, although they generally come at a higher initial cost.
Historically, premium manufacturers such as Bridgestone Corporation were known for producing high-quality water tanks with exceptional durability. Despite their superior performance, such products were eventually discontinued due to their significantly higher cost. In their official publications, it was recommended that tanks be replaced after approximately 15 years of service.
It is important to note that these lifespan estimates apply primarily to premium-quality water storage tanks that are properly installed and regularly maintained.
