Temporary Water Storage – Short-term Construction or Emergency usage

Small FRP Water Tank - Temporary Water Storage - Short-term Construction or Emergency usage

Temporary water tanks are essential for situations where quick and reliable water storage is needed. Whether due to emergency failures, structural tank damage, or the short-term nature of a project, these tanks offer an efficient solution without long lead times or costly commitments. At Magtech General, we provide durable and sustainable temporary water storage tanks to meet your needs swiftly and affordably.

1. When Are Temporary Water Tanks Needed?

Temporary water tanks are most commonly used during emergency situations—such as when your current tank is leaking or has sustained structural damage. New tank installations may take weeks to arrive and be commissioned, so temporary solutions are critical to maintain water supply without disruption.

Another key application is in construction sites. These projects often require water for a limited period—ranging from a few months to a couple of years. In such cases, investing in brand-new water tanks may not be cost-effective, making temporary tanks the smarter alternative.

2. High-Quality Used Tanks, Ready for Deployment

At Magtech General, we take pride in being one of the most established and experienced water tank installation teams in Singapore. With our extensive project portfolio, we regularly replace tanks and handpick FRP panels that are still in excellent condition for temporary reuse.

These second-hand panels are repurposed into small to medium-sized water tanks, offering a cheaper and faster alternative for temporary usage. Despite being used, we ensure they meet high durability and performance standards, giving our clients both peace of mind and value for money.

3. A Rare and Sustainable Offering

Our stock of used FRP tanks is unique—most second-hand tanks available in the market are either too small or very bad quality leading to unsuitability for reuse. However, our careful selection and panel curation process allows us to offer rare medium-sized used tanks. These tanks are ideal for temporary water supply needs and are difficult to find elsewhere in Singapore.

By reusing panels instead of discarding them, we are also actively contributing to sustainable practices in the water storage industry. This approach helps reduce waste and supports our broader mission of promoting green and cost-efficient water solutions.

Need a temporary water tank? Whether it’s for construction, a tank replacement, or an urgent situation, Magtech General is ready to help. Contact us today to learn more about our temporary water storage solutions and how we can support your project efficiently and sustainably.

Frequently Asked Questions

FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) and GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) tanks are the same material referred to by different names. They are significantly more affordable than steel tanks and are easier to maintain, making them the most common choice for general water storage applications in Singapore.

Steel tanks — whether HDG pressed steel or stainless steel — are typically heavier-duty, may offer a longer service life, and are often required for specific applications such as fire protection systems. However, they come at a higher cost.

We are happy to go through the options with you in more detail — feel free to contact us.

Both are stainless steel, but they serve different purposes:

  • SS316 is suitable for potable (drinking) water storage. In Singapore, only SS316 and FRP/GRP tanks comply with standards for drinking water use.
  • SS304 is suitable for non-potable water storage and fire protection applications. It is a more cost-effective option and is widely used for industrial and commercial water storage.

If your water is not for drinking purposes, SS304 is generally the more practical and economical choice. If drinking water compliance is required, SS316 is the appropriate option.

Yes. Our HDG pressed steel tanks are SS22 approved, which is the standard required for fire protection water tanks in Singapore under SCDF requirements. They are suitable for sprinkler systems, hosereel systems, and wet riser systems.

Please note that while we supply and install SS22-compliant tanks, we do not handle the SCDF submission process directly. If you require end-to-end support including regulatory submissions, we can connect you with our trusted partners who specialise in this.

Yes. We offer insulated FRP/GRP water tanks for applications where temperature control of stored water is important. Contact us to find out if an insulated tank is suitable for your requirements.
