PROJECT INFORMATION

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Built to Fit: Sectional Tanks for Limited Plant Room Space

The three tanks were built to different sizes: 3(2+1)m x 3m x 2m (H), 8(4+4)m x 3m x 2m (H), and 11(6+5)m x 5m x 2.5m (H).

The three tanks are all different sizes because each one was sized to the room it sits in. That is the practical argument for sectional panel tanks: the tank is built to the dimensions of the space rather than picked from a range of standard sizes and then fitted in as best it can be. Sizing each tank to its own room means as little of the floor area is wasted as possible, and the building gets the most storage the space can actually hold.

Because a sectional tank is made up of individual panels, it ships flat and is assembled in position on site. On an overseas project that matters more than it does locally – there is no one-piece vessel to move across a border, through a building and into a finished plant room.

Each of the three tanks was checked against our water tank checklist and leakage tested before handover, and a Practical Completion Certificate was issued covering all three.

01
Scope of work
  • Supply of three GRP sectional panel water tanks
  • Tank 1: 3(2+1)m x 3m x 2m (H) – 1 unit
  • Tank 2: 8(4+4)m x 3m x 2m (H) – 1 unit
  • Tank 3: 11(6+5)m x 5m x 2.5m (H) – 1 unit
  • Delivery to site in Sihanoukville, Cambodia
  • Assembly of base, side panels and roof panels in position
  • Internal reinforcements and tank fittings
  • Water tank checklist and leakage testing on each tank
  • Handover with Practical Completion Certificate
02
Project outcome
  • Three GRP sectional water tanks supplied and installed
  • Each tank sized to the dimensions of its own tank room
  • Storage capacity fitted to the space available in each location
  • Leakage testing completed on all three tanks
  • Practical Completion Certificate issued covering all three

Our Approach

1. Three Tanks, Three Different Rooms

Each tank was sized to the room it would occupy rather than picked from a standard range, which is why all three came out at different dimensions.

2. Shipped Flat and Built On Site

The panels were delivered to site and the tanks assembled in position by our team, avoiding the handling problems that come with moving a completed vessel into a finished building overseas.

3. Checklist, Leakage Test and Handover

Every tank was worked through our water tank checklist and leakage tested before being handed over, and the completion certificate covered all three together.

Why This Matters

A water tank is specified by the capacity a building needs, but it has to live in a room that was drawn for other reasons. Working from a range of standard tank sizes forces one of two compromises: accept less capacity than the room could have held, or accept a tank that does not sit comfortably in it. Sectional panel tanks avoid that choice, because the tank is assembled from panels and its dimensions are set to the room rather than the other way round.

That is why the three tanks here came out at three different sizes. Each was measured to its own tank room, so each room holds as much water as it physically can.

Panel construction also travels. A tank that ships flat and goes together in position is far more practical on an overseas project than one that has to be moved in whole, and it is a large part of why sectional tanks are the standard for buildings across the region.

With over 35 years of experience and more than 4,000 water tanks installed across Asia, Magtech continues to deliver GRP water tank supply and installation for developments in Cambodia and across the region.
