Magtech General Construction & Trading Pte Ltd replaced a faulty external water level indicator on the water tank at 81 Ellington Square, Singapore.

The external level indicator is the transparent tube that runs up the outside of the tank against a graduated backing plate. It is the only way to see how much water is in the tank without opening it up, and on a domestic tank it is the part a homeowner is most likely to actually use.
Over time these tubes cloud, stain and eventually crack at the connection points. That is what had happened here: the existing indicator does not have a plate and could no longer be read reliably, and an indicator that cannot be read is worse than none at all, because people stop checking it altogether.
We removed the existing unit and installed a new 1.5m (H) water level indicator complete with a graduated backing plate, so the level can be read at a glance from standing height. The connections were checked and the area cleaned on completion.
The client asked for a prompt replacement. From the request to the completed works took three days, weekend included.
The client wanted the indicator replaced promptly. We scheduled it straight away and had it completed within three days of the request, weekend included.
The old unit was removed and a new 1.5m (H) indicator installed in its place, complete with a graduated backing plate so the water level reads clearly from standing height.
The connection points were checked, the indicator confirmed to be reading correctly, and the working area cleaned before handover.
Most people never look at their water tank until something goes wrong with it. The level indicator is the one part that lets them look. A glance tells you the tank is filling, that it is holding, and that it is not draining when nothing is drawing from it – which is often the first sign of a leak or a supply problem.
When the tube clouds or cracks, that check quietly disappears. Nothing announces it. The tank carries on working, the indicator carries on being ignored, and the first real warning of a problem becomes a tap running dry.
This is a small job, and small jobs are the easy ones for a contractor to push down the list. Our view is the opposite: if we can help promptly, we will. A three-day turnaround across a weekend on a repair of this size is the same standard of response we would give a much larger one.
With over 35 years of experience and more than 4,000 water tanks installed across Asia, Magtech handles water tank repairs of every size across Singapore, from a single fitting to a full tank replacement.
